MISSION STATEMENT
Transylvania Bioarchaeology aims to identify the topics within the Transylvanian region that offer opportunities for high quality research and to assist the wider community to understand and appreciate the rich opportunities afforded by, and the potential of, Transylvanian bioarchaeology as achieved through systematic and ethical investigations of the archaeological record.
The organization's main objectives are to conduct research and disseminate information through publication of scholarly papers, articles, and international conference presentations; preserve and interpret the bioarchaeological record in meaningful and insightful ways; and the share the benefits of Transylvanian bioarchaeology with wider audiences.
Finally, the group endeavors to support the fieldwork education of students who wish to expand their knowledge and/or skills in bioarchaeology and human osteology, and offers students opportunities to undertake their own research in the field.

WHAT WE OFFER
STUDENT TESTIMONIALS

"Attending this field school was one of the best decisions I have ever made! After my first year, I knew that bioarchaeology was the field I wanted to pursue. I loved gaining the hands-on experience with skeletal remains as well as the personal interactions with the instructors. Through the two years (hopefully more in the future) that I attended this field school, I made lifelong friends, got to work on my own collaborative research project, received support from the staff to help me get into graduate school, and learned so much about Transylvanian culture (including palinka!)."
